It is often the case on many opencast mine sites that the drilling and blasting cycle is often overlooked in favour of the load and haul element. All cycles must be analysed critically to ensure that ore, and indeed waste, is being moved in the most cost effective way.

By streamlining the drill and blast cycle, there can be major advantages further down line in the crushing and milling cycles.

However, the load and haul component will also benefit from competent drilling and blasting by achieving better dig ability which in turn puts less strain on the loading machine.
